GM To Add V8's to TrailBlazer and Envoy lineup!

GM only states that the engines will have more than 280 hp, but rumor has it at 300+

 

That would be cool, a 300hp medium SUV!

About friggin time!  They were ready to do it with the bodystyle like your ZR2.  THe only reason they didn't was due to the costs of serviceability as it'd be stuffed in there.

I deleted my first comments in this thread as I had not read the "GM news" (duh!).

 

I am really happy GM is deciding it's necessary to offer what people like - at least sometimes!!  Agree w/ CMNTMXR - bout friggin time!!  I think it makes sense to have a higher torque option for the "EXT" variations.

 

Interesting points about the all aluminum 5.3L . . . Wonder how that bodes for us truck people?  Maybe that rumor I heard some months ago about a 320HP 5.3 was true after all.  

 

Also, interesting comments about "polymer coated" pistons to help on what I read as "cold start knock" - maybe there is hope for those of you out there w/ this problem.  Pop-in-law has this issue big-time on his '00 3/4 ton 6.0L.

 

Finally, I wonder how reliable all aluminum engines in trucks would be in hard-core off-road use?  Any comments from you guys out there who know it better than I do?

Are you are referring to the Hemi which aside from it's Hemispherical combustion chambers is a virtual copycat of the LS1, Vortec truck engine design?
