MyLink music playback through USB and smartphone.

I recently purchased a new 2016 Silverado LT (best decision ever) and I have been trying figure out how to play music on my phone via the USB connection. I can play all tracks on my phone via Bluetooth fine. But have issues when I go the USB route. At first I could not get MyLink to recognize my phone when plugged into the USB port at all. It would charge fine and android auto would boot up without issue as well. But when I would switch to media USB it would say no content available.

I finally figured out I had to change the USB option on my phone from change only to file transfer. Finally MyLink would find some music. However, there are some whole albums missing and in some cases the album is there but a song or two is missing. Some of the missing items are MP4a (ACC Itunes files), but I thought I read that Mylink supports this format. Maybe the USB music software did not have enough time to catalog all my music. It was only plugged in a for few minutes. Anyway,...anyone else have this type of issue.

Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I play music from my phone all the time, but I've only used bluetooth. I will have to try USB and see how it works. Welcome to the group!!

Anybody having any connectivity issues with your Bluetooth?

Mine will connect and disconnect frequently. It started acting up recently.

I know that the device has no issues because the problem exists with other devices.

When it connects, it holds for a few minutes and then drops out.

I've tried running the "pairing" procedure several times and that seems to not help any.

Any ideas?

I primarily listen to music off my phone, and one feature I really wanted in my truck was the Apple CarPlay. I wanted to be able to mirror my phone (limited) but it just seemed that integration would be seem less. I will admit I have had some issues with it, but it does seem to work pretty well. I can use the steering wheel controls to listen to music in alternate apps.

One thing that through me for a loop was how if your phone was hooked up via Bluetooth and you plugged it into the USB port, it would disconnect the Bluetooth. I had to research that the USB connection takes over for using your phone to make calls and such. Have you tried to just turn Bluetooth off?

I use the USB cord for MP3 play from my iPhone to my 14 Silverado. The only problem I have is sometimes when I select a song through the truck stereo it will get stuck on that playlist. For example, I am listening to a song I selected on my stereo and decide to play something else by touching it in the music app on my iPhone, it will change to that song for a moment and then the stereo switches back to what I selected through the truck stereo. The only way I found that stops this is unplugging the USB cable from my iPhone then plugging it back in. I am now able to play whatever I want selected from my iPhone.
