Stabilitrack issues

Ok I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 Z71 and have done a lot of searching and found that a lot of people are having the same issue but all the post I've found I can't seem to find anybody that has found a solution. Randomly like every couple weeks I'll slow down to turn and when I try to turn service stabilitrack comes on and you can't turn the wheel. It just pops back and literally takes the wheel out you hand. I brought it to my Chevy dealership and they pretty much said they couldn't replicate it even though a salesman was standing there when I pulled in and watched me try to fight this until the truck finally just died. I'm bringing it to a GMC dealership today cause they actually sound like they want to help me. This is really aggravating seeing how it's just out of the warranty and now this is happening and I'm not seeing anybody that can solve the problem. So I'm hoping maybe y'all will have some recommendations in what to do. Thanks in advance

i had the same problem. The stealership had my truck 3 weeks and were working with Detroit on the issue. The problem seemed to have been fixed by replacing both battery cables (which get grounded somewhere else) and replacing the entire fuse box!! I had the truck for about 3 weeks after i got it back and it didnt act up once. I HIGHLY recommend anyone with this issue report it on safecar.gov after my truck shut off on the highway with my son in the truck. I fired off emails and phones calls to the NHTSA and actually spoke with one of the investigators.... but like i said HIGHLY RECOMMEND filing a complaint on safecar.gov in regards to this issue....it will save lives...potentially yours.

The great part is since they won't take any recommendations from me from the research I've done they can't find it so tell me to bring it back if it does it again.

They were able to duplicate it for my instance. I know for me it is caused when there is a big drop in voltage. Make sure they have the the AC full blast and the radio on. Basically have them pull a bunch a energy and take it for a decent drive. Make sure to push the issue with them and with the executive office...it will get you places.

I have been in DMs with GM Customer Care and they seem to be on the ball with my case just the dealership scheduling has been a nightmare.

Been almost 3 weeks trying to get it in and get a loaner. :/

I can pretty much replicate it on demand soni should be ok their..... Its scarry as hell when it locks at an intersection and you almost smash into a 2017 C7 Z06 with paper plates....... NOT FUN!!!

Mines not under warranty anymore so that doesn't help. They just tell me to bring it home and come back if it does it again. I called GM for days and they gave me 2,000 towards a new truck but I can't afford one right now.

mine is for any new GM vehicle. I really don't want it cause I love my truck and never mind the fact that I can't afford a new one right now.

I would love mine to be 100% since i already have a lot of money invested in it, heck juat the exhaust system is 3K lol

Last time it was in the dealership they replaced a negative battery cable and called it good.... And it was.... For about a month. Now it's acting even worse, amd no AC cause my compressor took dump as well. Having more issues with my 2014 @ 70Kmiles then my 2005 colorado at 220K and my 1981 toyota 4x4.

    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
