Engine Temp

I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 z71 and am concerned about the engine temp. Whenever I get a slight grade and the truck downshifts the temp rises above 210. It also does it on the flats under heavy acceleration. The truck is not loaded or pulling anything. Anyone else have this issue? Is it normal?

Thanks for replying. My concern is that if it does it now with no extra weight on it, what's gonna happen when I tow a camping trailer.

A 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze boils at just under 230 degrees I wouldn't worry about it.

At 15 lbs a cooling system boiling point is more like 265 degrees

I wouldn't worry about it, as I don't trust the gauge. In my Denali, it flat out lies. The gauge is programmed to act like its getting up to temp really quick and holds right at 210F, even though the temp shown on my scanner connected to the ODBII port shows its warming up much more slowly, and fluctuating a lot more as the thermostat does its thing. I've seen fluctuations as high as 238F, while the digital gauge shows a rock solid 210F.
