Im looking at 5th wheels and im looking at one that weighs around 9000lbs dry and 1500 hitch weight

im pulling with 2016 sierra 2500 6.0 4.10 gears.

What you all think?

IMHO it should work but double check your pin weight when ready to travel. 1500 seems low for a 9000 unladen 5er

My 5th wheel is right around the same weight. Remember once you add water, gas, food and gear it will weigh more. Mine dry is 9000 lbs also but in running trim it does weigh a tad over 10,000 lbs. My 2015 with the 6.0 pulls it great on flat terrain. Toss in some altitude and the gasser does get a work out but will do whatever you ask of it without question. Pulling out to the Black hills last week I got anywhere from 5 - 10 mpg due to very strong head winds and altitude once out there. Average for the 1700 mile trip was 8.5 mpg. Around Minnesota I get 9-9.5 mpg. I keep going gas due to in frequent altitude towing and cost saving vs. diesel. If you will be towing frequently in altitude I would go diesel.

Mine in the owners manual dry specs out at 1350 for pin weight. Loaded on the scale it is closer to 1800.

Based on what I read in the RV forums, about one can expect around 15% of total weight as the hitch pin weight in the box. So Sledge's numbers seem to be right on.

OP, think in terms of payload. You probably have around 2800 pounds of payload, minus 1500 hitch pin weight, 150 for the hitch, and that will leave you around 1150 for cargo and people. If that works for you, you should be good to go for the most part.

I think with the gasser he may even have more payload. Check door tag.

My Double Cab standard box is rated are 2893.
