New cats going in tomorrow. So what are your thoughts on doing this service again? I'm thinking I need to do it every 10k instead of 15-17k.

Did you use a GM dealership or someone different? Trying to decide whether to take this to a certified BG rep or GM.

I was told that GM uses a product like BG, but it's not BG. And it runs ~ $150.

And if a good amount of people are throwing this code due to bad cats, I may just let the dealer handle it so no issues come up with replacement.

That's the million dollar question. I did seafoam at 15k, had no issues. The plan was to do it every 15k after that to keep the top end clean. I did it at 30k and that's when i had the issue. Im coming up on 40k now and debating if i should do it again or not a 45. Im leaning towards not doing it and just getting the heads and intake cleaned at like 100k or something like that.

Side note: i feel like BG should cover any issues that their treatment may bring up. Seeing as how you have to have a certified shop do it.

BG' s warranty says they cover if done every 15k. I went over by 2k. Just enough to likely not have their warranty. .

I used a BG approved shop, not the dealer. I know BG backs their product if done within the 15k recommendation.

I guess either route you go, id get confirmation from BG and shop OR dealer on the possibility that this may occur.

I hadn't seen any issues like mine until I brought it up. Warranty covered though. And to be honest, the issue would have happened if they did it. The one guy said dealer recommended every 30k. I can't imagine how clogged the cat would be if I waited until 30k! The fact that it's that dirty with low mileage is a bit concerning.

When I pick mine up tomorrow I am going to ask what the dealer recommends. Might wait until the 100k mark like 14tungsten said, but the ill have to deal with lost efficiency and worse and worse mileage.
