Towing Short vs Standard Bed

Does anyone have a preference for towing a travel trailer, short vs standard bed? I know you loose a few pounds of payload, but the longer truck should be smoother and tow better?

I really don't think you would notice the towing difference between these two box lengths with everything else being equal. I've towed with both lengths, as well as 8' versions and don't have a preference. There may be some mathematical information supporting a particular length but I wouldn't consider this as a variable in my truck buying decision!
