Leak help

Hey guys I have a 05 2500hd 6.0 and it is leaking somewhere in the drivetrain. The transmission crossmember is wet, and is now starting to drip. I've never had it to where it drips on the concrete and you can obviously see a leak but it has stood for two days now and i can see it drip on the concrete over the course of two days. I replaced the transfer case in February this year. I think it might be the rear transmission seal maybe? I'll try and get a pic up soon. Just wondering if anybody else has ever had this and how much of a bitch is it gonna be to fix. Truck has 214,000 miles.

What fluid is leaking? Oil or tranny fluid?

you might want to closely examine the transfer case, as it is possible whomever rebuilt it didn't install the fix for the problem. and check it's fluid level.

and the symptoms are that the fluid comes out while you are driving, not while the truck is sitting still.

It only has 11,000 on the new case you think it'll go out that fast?

It's possible. And it's straightforward to see if that's the issue if you get under the truck.

It's not leaking where the pump rub is, it looks like it's from where the trans and transfer case meet

Yeah, that sounds like the output shaft seal on the transmission (most likely), or the transfer case input seal (less likely).

Is either the transmission or the transfer case low on fluid?

I didn't check the transfer case but the trans was a little low I think, it's such a pain to try to get the trans hot to check it because I've heard it's less accurate to check with cold oil.

Just drive the truck around for 30 min or so, park on a level surface, click from P to R to N to D then click all the way back to park. Check the fluid with the motor RUNNING.
