lagging diff.

:cool: I have a 2002 ext. 5.3, 3.73 gears with locking diff., K&N filter (in place) and a Grantatelli MAS. The truck runs great but at times seems to lag as if the diff. takes time to grab. Also seems to at times lag behine and not grab right away. Is this normal. I tow once in a blue moon and when I do it is great, no problems. When it is not in load is whe it feels laggish. I would have to say the truck response better when in load. Any suggestions??? :sigh:

When you say 'lag' I assume you mean the locker doesn't engage quickly. I think it is just the luck of the draw. My K1500 is terrible. It can dig a hole with one wheel before the other will grab. Our K2500 HD barely turns a tire and they are both working. My old 1/2 ton was awful slow but the wife's Blazer was quick. :sigh::cool:

:sigh: Are you reffering to your "Locker" engaging? If so, are you towing on a loose roadway? your locker should only engage when one of your rear wheels rotates at a higher revolution than the other. It sounds like you are reffering to the "truck" power response. :cool:

I am talking about the locker not grabing on time. I use to have a 79 and 68 1/2 with a locker and dam did that truck haul ass and responded the way a truck should. I never owned a newer truck until now and thats why I wondered if this was normal. The dealer even friends who own newer chevy's say this is normal. If that is the case dam its kinda sad. The truck even though is awsome. Would not trade it in. Just whish the rear would grab sooner. Thanks for the input though. :sigh:

Well besides the fact that my pinion teeth broke off the pinion gear today..

Since I have had my truck.. I can't get the two wheels to stop spinning together.

Usually you can get one-wheel-peel on a right turn (like in my Mustang GT sometimes) but not with this truck.. I can lay into it straight, any turn.. and both wheels always spin giving me that nice gliding effect that no traction on either rear tire gives you!!

I guess some rears are built different than the others.

I notice no lag whatsoever.. Both tires want to spin ALWAYS.. any worse and it would be like having a spool where when you make a turn the rear-end hops around cuz one tire is spinning the other one faster than it can go. hehehehe.. ahhh the days of watching the races on paris. rd. with that old truck and the spool trying to make a turnaround.

:withstupid::cheers:

Anyways.. mine is a 94' Z-71 which until today has given me no probs. with the rear.

cycle, I never lose traction. I just felt as is the lock up of both wheels was slow to ingage. After reading the replys I quess this is common. It does grab I just wish it would grab sooner, other wise its ok.

I had a problem with mine acting "funny" this winter... it was very slow to engage. When I took it to the dealer we went out in the icy parking lot, and the stupid thing worked perfect!!! Oh well... that's what happens to me all the time. Things that don't work at home, work just fine at the dealership!!!
