Engine knock after lifter replacement

I just had the lifter replacement in my 2013 5.3 done about 3 weeks ago. New VLOM MANIFOLD, 16 new lifters, new guides, one new pushrod, and a brand new oil pump. Cam was inspected and showed no damage. All this work was done due to a dull knock at idle when engine was at operating temperature. Well the noise came back sitting at idle in traffic today.Has anyone had the same issue reoccur after warranty work has been done?

How many miles on your vehicle. If it was a knock, why didn't they check the bearings? Knocking sounds mean bearings, tapping/ticking means valve train.

wow, they used the old cam

These cams are rollers, not much wear and you can change out lifters without issues. Not like flat tappet cams that wear-in together.

Not sure how much was checked when they dropped the oil pan to do the oil pump, but I was told everything on the bottom end checked out. The truck has a little over 69k on it. This noise will only happen at idle when the engine is warm. I called the dealership this morning, the service manager who I trust along with my family was angry because they went through the whole engine... at least the whole top end from what I gather. Engine was nice and quiet for 3 weeks but has become noisy again with these very cold temperatures.I can still say it is much quieter on cold start still.

Idling I was sitting around 22-23. Now it's 23-25. Highway speed now is around 39-43, which is about the same as it was before. Cold starts are still around 51 or so.

It has 73k on it now. All bearings were checked for play and unusual wear.. nothing was found. It is going back to the dealership at the end of the week for what looks like it's second tear down. Like I said previously, it was fine for a while and then out of the blue this noise starts again.

Does this sound like the same noise. Mine only has 42,800. The noise started 2000 miles after the dealer did head gaskets. I just started a post about this noise. Not really a happy camper with this truck.
