Sounds like the RCDLR is bad. IE the Passenger Door Switch.

You can find them pretty cheap on ebay just make sure if you have TPMS you get the correct PDM RCDLR

PDM US RFA = Non TPMS

PDM US RFA TPM = TPMS

Will this post is an education in itself, thank you for posting. I will have to research some of the terms you quoted but thats ok.

My one fob has been inop for many years. Elderly family member tried to replace battery and the case is in pretty poor shape, so $25.00 and two replacements has that fixed.

I will look into switch today or tomorrow, thanks again

Didn't even know the 03 Silverado had TPMS. Thought it only started in 05 and became law in 08. Also thought the RCDLR was part of the BCM in 03, I'm confused.

You can add TPMS to the older trucks with the addition of the Correct PDM and programming. I have even removed TPMS from both the new and old body style trucks but for legal reasons I would never tell anyone how since its a safety and federally mandated after 07. To many people that want to sue for anything now days.

I only glanced at the thread and did not really look at what year he had. After posting I saw something in the tail end of one of the post that might be his fob being bad. I hope the new ones he ordered work.

As for keyless entry

03 up is not in the BCM its all in the PDM.

I guess I should add that when you have power door locks with key less that it does have its own calibration in the bcm. I flash BCMs off the car for plug and play and thats one of the required answered questions in sps before you can program.

If I enter the acronym PDM in the GM server search line for 2003 Silverado the only response I get is Pump driver module for a diesel truck. I'm trying to educate myself here so hang in there. Where physically is this PDM you're talking about located?

New fobs should be here Monday at the latest, amazon says Sunday via USPS......doubt that.

So the pic is the PDM or RCDLR or whatever it is called in the passenger door? And, needs to be programmed not plug and play if I understand correct?

I sure am hoping new fobs cure the issue, lowest cost fix so far plus mine nearly 15 years old anyway and one has nor worked for years.

thanks for posting

The PDM Is the RCDLR.

As for programming GM SPS does have programming for the PDM what functionality it actually gIves I have no idea. A new one may need to be programmed but I've never had a new one in my hand. I have programed used PDM's on the bench to the correct Vin the truck it was going to be replaced in but noticed no difference in my testing from donor truck to flashed vin in the PDM.

Coby7 & SPartanAUtoworx:

We are back in business. New fobs programmed smooth and are functioning. The retailer via Amazon sent his business card and recommended I go to their www site for programming instructions. I had Coby's instructions but thought I better check their site. Only difference is they mentioned I might have to hold the Unlock and Lock buttons for as long as 30 minutes. Not even close, less 30 seconds. Both are programmed.

Now off to mend the instrument cluster once material arrives.

Thanks for all the posts and advice, I have learned allot from both of you and your assistance has been a HUGE help.

SpartanAUtoworx, Appears you may have some used parts and I see you are showing ST Louis area. That being the case you are a stone throw away from me and I will retain your posts if that is correct.

Your welcome! I believe SpartanAUtoworx also repairs clusters if you get into trouble....

Yes, I seen he has a keen interest in many truck areas. I will keep him in mind since he is not too far from me.

Your little video really pulled all together. A faulty fob will trigger some test equipment, but at the end of the day its a dud. Hence, the test light at the retailer reading ok when it was not :-)

Now to resurrect my other thread on the cluster once I remove it. Many, many moons ago I use to do some of that work on radios, but I need to refresh the technique.

Thanks again

Yes, surface mount is a technique alright compared to through hole.

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
