2015 Silverado 1500 DDM HID Check Engine Light

P21DD - Hey guys, I have a 2015 that I had 2 computer updates done per GM sent me a (recall?) notice that this update was needed. Coincidently about 2 weeks later my CEL comes on. Had it checked at a local shop and it was a P21dd. He cleared it for me and then 2 days later it came on again. This time I stopped into a GM dealer and they wanted to charge me $120 just to read it again cause the warranty only goes to 50,000 miles for emissions. I told them what it was and of course they will not do anything until they read it. I drove off a little upset for the time being since 2 years ago I had to replace the DEF heater in my 2011..
Now I am on vacation and pondering what to do and if I can fix myself. I have not replaced or messed with my headlights at all. Any thoughts? 

Read up on this and then talk to your dealer again. Should be covered up to 10 years or 120,000 miles.

Hou1ptt, thank you for the info. Very interesting. You would think GM dealers would keep up on these bulletins but either way I will definitely take this to them!
