Wireless charger from 16 to 14 Silverado

I noticed that 15/16 Silverado's have a wireless charge pad. And the console looks exactly like my 14. Has anyone taken one from a 15 or 16 and installed it into a 14 ? I know thier are companies who make a kit. But it lifts the phone to end up flush, causing the phone to fly if you hit your brakes. The OEM pads are low just like my console.

Also, I looked at the GM parts websites, and it shows only the entire console lid. But gives no description if the charge pad is installed in it. Ideas ? Thoughts.

Others have installed their own charging pads that they purchased from eBay and modified the console to accept the pad. There's a few threads floating around recently

honestly, I would not waste the money to convert it too the charger. not many phones actually fit in the console lid, and if they do you still need to find a case that has the wireless capability to charge your phone. if it is an apple you will loose the ability to charge your phone any other way because the case plugs into the lightning port.

I have seen the mods people did. And a lot look ugly. I like a clean install. As far as fit, My S7 fits perfectly. Hense why I like how the OEM system would work for me personally.

It's easy to do it yourself. I think it took around 30 minutes. No exposed wires or anything to make it not look oem.

Just FYI -- many people have reported having problems with the S7 in the OEM charger. Everything works correctly but apparently you need to have the phone located just in the right spot or it loses connection.

If you go the aftermarket retrofit route like others have you can probably get a charger that has a larger area and you can move the location in the console a little to place it where you want it to work better with your phone.

I have an S7 and thought about both ways but haven't tried either one yet.

My 15 LTZ does not have it. I agree as mentioned above.....they usually don't work with a phone case and protecting my phone is more important to me

Rhino guy, what charger did you buy ? And how is the wire routed on the inside ?

I used a Nokia wireless charger.

There is a thread on this site that has directions on how to install it under the little rubber mat on the console. I'll try to find the thread and post the link when I get on my computer tomorrow.

I think I know what post your talking about. It's where he cut a round hole to fit the whole charger in fluse.

I found a YouTube video where a kid ordered one @ amazon and just installed the coil under the plate. I think I will give it a try. So if it fails, I don't have a huge hole.

Mine just has the coil. I took the plastic case off of the charger. The charger input happened to be 12v so I was able to tie it into the plug on the back of the console.

This is the charger I used. It's a 3 coil and fits under the rubber /plastic part on the center of the console. It works great but I'm probably going to try to find a similar one that has fast charging capabilities to replace it with.

I wouldn't bother. As noted my s7 won't work unless you get it just the right spot. And then it charges so slow it isn't worth it. I was excited about this capability when I bought the truck but have never used it. Curious how it works if you try it though
