help on tranny filter oil change

hello I have an 02 gmc sierra 1500 2wd with 124k miles on it. I want to change the tranny oil and filter but if I just drop the pan how much oil should I use to refill? and can i mix synthetic with old oil?

I believe it's 5-6qts for the 4L60E trans. Owners manual should say how much. I'm almost certain the Dexron VI synthetic is compatible with the older fluid.
