Coolant temp creeps up

Hey y'all! I have a 2016 sierra with the 5.3 and I have been seeing my temp gauge moving past 210 when I accelerate. Also if I am going up hill and I want to stay at 70 the temp gauge will start creeping up towards the first notch after the middle. After I let off the gas the temp gauge will start Togo back to the middle. So what I wanted to ask you guys was if you guys experience this with your trucks and btw I called my dealer and said it was normal which I thought was weird because out of all the cars I have had have never had the temp gauge move.

Mine started to do this as well but only when I tow and leave it in 4th gear (rpm's around 3k or so) after I had the radiator replaced for it leaking and also the thermostat

Mine did this after the rad and thermostat were replaced, lasted for about 1 week than quit. These trucks do a lot of weird things that are "normal".

Funny how both of ours happened right after a tstat and radiator replacement lol

Hmmm I have not towed anything yet so I would be curious to see how mine acts with a load. What year is your truck? Because I read on another forum post that there was either a tsb or recall for leaking radiators because the thermostat gm was using was cycling too much and putting too much pressure on the radiators causing them to crack and leak. So now thinking about it he new thermostat they are installing now may cycle slower so the water flow is slower and that's why we see the brief temperature spike during hard acceleration or keeping speed on a grade. So since mine is a 2016 it may have the updated thermostat that they installed in your truck.

Mines a 14, and yeah it probably came from the factory with the same tstat that they installed in my truck

My 14 had the max tow package....Temp gauge never deviated even when pulling 11k up a grade.
