Is a 5.7l V8 in a 2000 Tahoe Z71 a LS 1 ?

There may be a overlap in engines I don't claim to be an expert, I think yours would be called a vortec V8. The LS1 was a 350 HP V8 and LS2 was a higher HP V8. I remember my 94 Z28 was called the LT1. When I started driving in the 70s small block was called a mouse, big block a rat.

2000 Tahoes had 5.3 liter motors.

2000 still had the 5.7 in the Z71 the rest had the 4.8 or the 5.3.

Not all of them. The Tahoe Limited and Tahoe Z71 were GMT 400 models and had the 5.7 still in 2000.

 

It still was the L31 Gen 1 small block

Got it. So it's still not an ls1. It's the old school 350.
