Stopping a coolant leak

I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 2wd, 4.8l. About a month ago I replaced the water pump. When I did, I also replaced the thermostat. When I got done, I had a leak around the thermo. housing. Since then I have tried 2 thermostats, 3 thermostat gaskets, a new thermo housing, and I even took off the water pump and took it back for exchange. I still have a small leak. All hoses and wp gaskets have been checked, and all bolts were torqued to spec. There is just that small leak where the thermo housing bolts on. I'm also aware of the 2 different size thermostat diameters and I have the right size. It's just a mystery to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the rubber seal that goes around the thermostat? If so it maybe bad. Do not use a flat

gasket at the housing period.

Yes. I only used the rubber gasket that goes around the thermostat. I tried 3 different ones. The one on it now is a fel pro. Which is supposed to be a good one.

Then I suggest you change the pump again. Must be defective.

Some replacement WP require a totally different thermo housing/spout assembly. You need to make sure yours is matched for it

I'll double check that. If the second wp is defective, would I be able to see some kind of imperfection where the housing mounts. I did compare all the new parts with the old and they seemed exact but I still could've missed something
