New to the site looking for some advise

So I'm new to the site looking for some advise on what do.

I've got a 2004 chevy Silverado z71 crew cab and having issues with the 4×4. The let 2 weekends I've taken it out into the trails and have got stuckin some nasty stuff. Yesterday I got hung up on a stump and was really only stuck because my differentials were not locking. The front driver side tire and rear passenger tire were the only 2 tires that would engage not allowing me to back up out of the hole.

Does anyone know why it's not locking the way it should or what I can do to fix this issue? Thank you in advance for any help/advise.

Welcome aboard!

Start by looking at the tag in the glove box for the code G80. That is the code for having a locking rear differential. The back tires should both spin if you have that option, and wheel speed is under 30 MPH.

Ok so I checked the service parts identification sticker in the glove box and g80 is on there, and from everything in reading that is supposed to be the locking rear differential. So anychance you may know why it's not engaging or what I can do to fix this issue? I enjoy going trailing but getting stuck in little stuff is not fun. Tried posting pics but for some reason it keeps saying the files are all too big to upload.

Thanks again

Thank you, still haven't figured out what my issue is with the trick not engaging. Got a lot of research to do still

How long have you had the truck? Does it still have the original rear end?

I bought the truck from a small dealership on Texas almost a year ago. I'm really not sure of it still has the original rear end or not though. Is there any way to tell without tearing it apart? I'm kinda new to the whole truck thing still trying to figure a lot out.
