wow, to be clear. Are you saying that the 3 USB's at the front of the tray that looks like a direct swap from the 2 USB's from old console will not work? I have my console in the house doing the wiring (have not tested anything yet) but the plugs look like they are like for like!! I agree with the cigarette splicing, never used them and probably won't but I want them to work. I'll work on mine and try to get power, car play is the least of my concern on any of the receptacles.

No, they will charge and send data but if you want to retain Apple CarPlay you have to swop out the USB/SD card module for the non SD card module inside the console. Luckily they slide up and out and can easily unplugged.

Sounds like you have a plan 51 but where did you splice in the white/brown wires that control the LED? I removed almost all of the floor consoles harness. When I got toward the rear of the floor console I cut off the cig power & ground, and the two wires for the lid switch. This was easier and quicker and I knew I'd be splicing these into the old jump seat harness anyways. That part was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. After seeing both harnesses this thread and the other console swop thread became a lot more clear lol. After I had it wired up I installed the console but left the front trim and outlets alone. That's whenI tested the CarPlay and found it not working. I spent a lot of time trouble shooting that issue, just to find out the USB/SD card reader model doesn't play well with CarPlay. Now I'm stuck on the front cig adapters and the three bank of USB's. I spliced in a second connector for the second cig and the spliced in a power and ground for the 3 USB's. Used the green GM cable micro USB cable to connect the HMI to the USB bank and nothing, nothing at all. No charging, no data. I was really stumped here and looked over the obvious things first like checking for power. My original cig adapter next to the 110 outlet doesn't have power. I checked all the fuses in both driver and passenger boxes and found nothing. I never used/or test this cig adapter so I'm puzzled. This could have been a 3hr install without the little CarPlay issues and this dam cig adapter issue. Will report back tomorrow and I should have the front figured out.

White/ Brown wires I plugged all into the cig. adaptor, from what I can see (can't reach it) that wire is tied into the hinge of the console lid. I'm assuming it's an on/off switch for the LED??? Yea as stated once you get into it it's pretty straight forward. I did the same spliced rear console cig. outlets into cig outlet supply nearest to the plug end of the harness, cut off that cig outlet and spliced the other two into it. The only issue I can foresee if both were being used at the same time for extended periods of time?? The front USB's and power plug should be coming off of the (front wiring harness) straight plug and play, if you are having issues there I'm going to venture to guess that those issues were already there. I read on the other thread which fuse it was, it's one on the passenger side fuse bank. I will attack it again after work or Monday morning for sure!!!

Maybe for a cross check the panel that we had to remove to install the console (up front on dash) plug it back in to see if the plugs and USB's work?? Never had an issue with those but dealer had to replace the USB bank in my jump console last month because they just went out !!?

WOW,

O.K. guys I'm excited, the wiring went as expected. Everything that I wired up works as intended. # USB's up front , all cig outlets, and 110v, light in console etc... all work. I did not wire up the card reader in the console comp. because I was not sure on how to wire and decided the glove box connection was a better choice as is, for me (I do have the cabled to hook them up later if need be!!! I will go back and wire up (power only/ no data) the USB's in the compartment part of the console later since I'm also waiting on stereo wiring !!!. The radio recognizes the USB's up front to boot !!! :driving:

ok, so you moved the usb plugs that we're in the jumpseat to the front of the new console with the old harness plug right? so where does the audio out jack go?

No

I did not move any USB's , I simply used the power (and data plugs) to the jump seat USB's and plugged it into the front USB's on the console. My audio out jack is in my new console I did nothing with it. I will supply power to the USB's inside the console but will not try to hook up data or audio out. Bluetooth will do all of that for me.

Ohh , ok, so correct me if I'm wrong, the only way thus far to get power to whatever extra bank of USB's that the new console has is to run that Delco Micro USB cable from the jack behind the monitor in the dash, dowm to the new usb's?

Don't know anything about that,

I would assume if it's the same one that normally went to glove box or is there an extra one back there?

Ok so trying to get a better idea of what to do here. I have a 2015 silverado with a 2014 console. What is this $14 cable your all saying to order? Part number? Do i ise the connectors off of that? I havent started install yet i want my ducks in a row first. I just want charging to front usb connectivity would be a bonus though i have the glove compartment one if needed for that.

I have 2 of the cables that I never opened or used. I simply left the glove box connection as is so I didn't use it.

    • Thanks everyone for the help!   I'm going to stop into the scales one of these days and weigh my axels, for the time being, I am going to run Toyo's recommendations and also do a chalk test. I have a tire shop that's going to try their scanner to reprogram and set the the factory psi values lower, and if they can't I'm going to order a scanner and do it myself!
    • You won’t do better than stock exhaust without headers. Just put your favorite muffler on it and it will do the job.
    • I have seen different people in different places post different sizes of exhaust as stock for my 2014 Sierra L83. Some say 2.5 some say 2.75. I am considering replacing the muffler with a Dynomax Super Turbo, perhaps 17739.  I had the factory L83 5.3 replaced with another L83 5.3 from Jasper Engines. I also put new Walker Cat / Y pipe on. I would appreciate opinions suggestions about what would be a good muffler setup. My main interest is a low rumble and the best flow / fuel mileage I can get. Not interested in straight through glass packs or loud exhaust. Those days are way behind me now.  Thanks Guys.
    • Its coolant disguised as oil.   TSB 20-NA-166 -  20-NA-166 1..3   "To inspect for this concern, add coolant dye to the system, run the engine through warm up, pressurize the cooling system after warming the engine to operating temperature (let the engine cool overnight) and inspect the suspect cylinder with a borescope for coolant dye evidence. At times it may be necessary to remove the head for inspection. If the head casting line is the concern, the intake port will be wet with a coolant oil mix"     I'd say its the head, and its either leaking at the casting line and dripping down the intake into the cylinder, or its another spot on the casting itself at the cylinder that is getting wet.
    • Can you sample the pooled liquid, enough to confirm it is oil?   ...That its not fuel or coolant.   Also, make sure combustion gases aren't entering the cooling system.   Simply put, either oil being pushed up past the rings (this really isn't possible), oil leaking past the head gasket, oil leaking past the valve, oil entering through the intake air path. If none of this is likely - it may not be oil.   What could be likely is the fuel injector leaking down. A puddle of gas would still smoke and rough idle. (Same cylinder has the same problem after injector replacement?)   What is the crank time first thing in the morning, when the puddle would be present? Does it seem like the high pressure fuel pump needs an extra second or two to rebuild the pressure that injector 8 may have let bleed off? Check the fuel pressure via a scanner prior to starting the engine.
