Finally ditched the stock tires. I tried to like them but now that they are gone I am much happier with the new tires. 285/65/20 Nitto Tera Grapplers on stock rims. I have a leveling kit (2") and I cut the bottom off the valance. There is a lot of room to move so nothing is close to rubbing. I had 4 different sizes that I was comparing, man the Internet is great, you can convert sizes and compare the 4 sizes I wanted, I wanted more sidewall and width, I gained 2"s in height and 1 1/2 in width, a much better sidewall too, the 295 would have worked but I like this size. I took some close pics to show the clearance Clarence? Also I am off 3mph based on GPS.

What are those 34.5"x11.3"? I'm looking to do the same size tire on my HD but don't know if I can run them on my stock 17" or need better offset wheels. Looks great though.

Thanks and yes, the site says 34.6-11.2-7.3 sidewall. I was looking for a lot more sidewall and this is perfect. I bet they will fit, the site tiresize.com has a great converter, then I went out and moved the tires a little bit at a time and measured. I could have gone much bigger but these look right, plus MPG is hit hard, these are off 1 MPG in the 50 miles I have on them from the DIC. I didn't need to cut the valance but it looks 1000% better, it's a free 2 inch lift visually.

Which 2” leveling kit did you use?

Did you crank the t-bars at all?

 

You mentioned the 295 would have worked. Which 295? The 295/65 (35.12 dia)?

 

I basically want to do the same thing, just want to go a bit wider.

I want to level just enough to stuff a 34-35” tire under there.

 

 

Your truck looks great. It’s proportionally right. Just about where I’m aiming for. :thumbs:

 

I’m considering keeping the stock Denali wheels but may not be able to if I go 295 width.

 

I’ve trimmed the valance on past trucks before. No big deal to me.

 

Post a pic looking down the side and your trimmed valance.

Yes TG 2, I used a Rough Country leveling kit, it was new keys and shock spacers, the 295s were 295/65/20, just a bit wider than the 285s I have, your rims will work, my 285s on the Denali rim do not balloon at all and are just a bit wider than the rim. I'll have to take a pic of the valance, that was one of the best things I have done that was free, it looks so much better, I may take another inch off.

I just bought the 2015 Denali Dmax. Previous trucks I've had, I go with wider tire to protect the wheel rim. I hunt and offroad alot so the tire extending past the wheel lip is important or the wheels would get trashed quickly.

 

I put a Rough Country kit on my 05 2500 and I really liked the quality.

 

I'm going to try to fit the 295/65s with the same kit you used. Going from the 285s 34.6 to the 295s 35.12, how much more room do you think was available for the 295s? More than the half inch difference?

Do you think it'd require any trimming of the valance or bumper?

Maybe the valance but mine was cut on the bottom only, I wanted to keep the angle on the end to keep it stronger, no way you heed to trim the bumper, the 295 is so little of a difference, I can't imagine it would be more than 1/2 an inch, and from my pic you can see there is room. I have the thick mud flaps and they are never close at any turn angle and the same for the front valance. The pic I posted is only a 1.75" level, not really 2 but that

is easier to type I didn't use all the room I had, you can get 2"s but I go to Silver Lake sand dunes and with big bumps the upper arm hits a little, any more and it would hit hard. The nice part of new Keys is you can swap out the upper control arm and add the diffy spacer and get 3.5 total inches. Some say you need new shocks but some kits just use the shock extenders. Just the new UCA will get you 2.5"s without diffy spacers. I did not notice a ride change at all, the new tires did stiffen it a little but not bad.

      Rattle in the rear!

      I've tried everything and still have the rattle.  My next thing to eliminate is the seatbelt connection on the real pillar.  The cover seems loose and could be the source.  I found one of my grandsons video games in the back seat rest compartment   and had a glimmer of joy, but that wasn't it.  I'll keep trying.

      I'm tangentially aware of what Harley used to be, back in my riding days, although I was into Italian sport bikes. Ducati seems to have gone the other way; still very expensive, but they've made a large subset of their bikes a lot more reliable and accessible, and they've diversified their lineup to include other riding sports too. IMO, a good example of where greed and growth might have also been beneficial to the consumer.   Although GM is charging a relative premium for its most popular pickups, I find that there are some excellent value propositions in its lineup as well.   The Colorado still strikes me as the most attractive midsize on the market, and also the most reasonably priced given capability and features. There's a part of me that wishes I would have bought one instead of my Silverado.   The Equinox ...I must be getting old. The ICE equinox is a great design IMO. Probably because it reminds me visually of an actual SUV aka an S Blazer. Underneath it's nothing even remotely close, but it LOOKS good. It's got all the modern features plus some at a very reasonable price. If I had to run out and buy myself a daily commuter to do everything except tow, an Equinox would be on my list.   It does bug me that mid-tier 1500's reach into the 50-60k range, and Tahoes and Burbs are even more expensive. Less than 10 years ago, dealers were sitting on rows of Tahoe LS and LT's for low 40's. You could even still find Tahoes with a front bench, still!

      Big oil is raking in billions from the Iran war. Can it avoid Trump’s fury?   Remember I said Big Oil is 'Vertically Integrated"?   Even as they no longer own the majority of the "Pump" they still own the "Well". Crude price upward pressure does not translate into that same pressure on production. Pumping cost remain unaffected and the gap is pure profit. Even after subtraction of a minor, comparatively, lower amount from supposed, but not always, realized refining volume. Consumers hate war, Big Oil, not so much.

      We live in a world where the average person expects more. People say wages and our needs are farther apart. My first new home had 3 bedrooms and one bedroom. My first car and truck had what would be considered a stripped or work vehicle. In my neighborhood back then there were more homes like that and cars too. Middle managers and second home buyers worked their way up to the fancy houses and cars. Car loans were 3 years. GM had different models of cars for different income levels. The cars were pretty much the same size if you wanted a big vehicle. The nameplate designated the opulence. Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac.  To be fair some of the cost is government mandated. We can’t blame them for giving us what people will pay for. Careful advertising steering people towards more profitable SUVs and trucks. As I learned recently a minivan is a cheaper more efficient form of transportation. Certainly easier to live with. Somebody realized the profit margin wasn’t as big and gave it a soccer mom label. So it lost its coolness. They’re making it the masses are buying it. You hit your hand with a hammer you can’t blame the hammer.
