I have a quick question about a backup camera.

Hey, guys! I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 and I just recently bought a backup camera. The camera is for my Pioneer AVH-X4500BT and I just attempted to wire it up yesterday. However, the camera is not working. I'm getting power through the cable, but the camera is doing nothing. I called the company that I bought the camera from and he said that sometimes older vehicles don't get a full 12 volts through the reverse wire.

 

Do any of you know this to be true or have any suggestions?

I added one on my 2007, I m guessing you took the rear tail light assembly out. I just used a couple of those cheap blue suitcase crimps and put it on my reverse light. Can you get a meter and check the power at the light with the truck in reverse and verify you have 12 volts there.

I got it working. I had plenty of voltage. I just had to correct a couple other things. Thank you! :-)
