Beefing g up a 1500

I own a 2000 GMC Sierra z71 1500 4x4. It has a 6" lift with 18"wheels on 35s. New 4:10 gears, and a 5.3 with 206,000 miles. I bought a new pull behind camp trailer. It's 31' long and weighs 5300lbs dry. I think it's to much for my truck. Can I do a 2500 swap with axles springs discs and tranny from a 2500 onto my 1500?

What's the load rating?

How often and what type of terrain will you be towing?

Weight distributing hitch for sure.

Try it. :happysad:

better off finding a nice used newer 1500. A newer 1500 will have the same or better towing rating then a 2500 gasser. Just a thought, good luck on whatever route you choose.

I agree with this.

a common routine on C-rails (100 years of them), was to strain the wimpy part after the rear spring shackles front connection.

that was the only difference to find between their 1500-2500-3500 that most often got overlooked.

big springs and the diff etc..that is all obvious.

they did do other important things to keep them bigger.

and then it needed cross sills, springs, a semi float or full float 14 bolt is always good.

I am playing these games now.. I think the next finale is breakin the axle tube at the pumpkin. Seeking out a 14 bolt.

that is 1996-99...after making a silent monster while keeping the k1500 label.

the new frames.. they can be worked, but it is easier to find the beefy models and buy.

I was all over my dad's 2016.. it is the same. you want the bigger model, they make you pay now.

As far as i learned the last hacks are 96-99.

they stopped all of it after that last generation of C-rail.
