07 vs 12

I am buying either an 07 or 12 Z71 today and thought I would get some final advice or opinions. Both are fully loaded with same options like nav capt chairs sunroof etc. The 07 is 18k with 94k miles. The 12 is 22 k with 112k miles. Any real reason to get the newer one with slightly more miles and more money vs the older one with less miles and cheaper?

Only reason: resale value in a few years?

07 was the 1st year for the GMT-900 trucks...reason enough for me to get the newer one (though, not all issues had been worked out in the 12's) if I were buying

Things to look out for...

cracked dash (usually around the passenger side air bag corners)

AFM (5.3 engines...you'll probably want to buy the Range AFM disabler or have it tuned out. It doesn't save that much (if any) gas and causes nothing but trouble)

Surprisingly both dashes are not cracked. I'm trading in an 07 LT Tahoe for one of these and it has the dash crack. As far as a tune, I'm trying to set up an on-site event with Blackbear now.

The 12 will have the AFM updates GM issued to help correct the oil consumption issues. It will also have the 6L80E trans. I've had an '07 and now own a '13, the six speed is much better than the 4 speed.

Newer is almost always better. Especially when comparing to the first year of the platform.

The '12 is going to have updated options - better OnStar connectivity, USB port, integrated trailer brake, as mentioned before the alleged AFM update/fix, etc...
