hey guys, i'm new here, i have a 2004 gmc sierra 6.0L, i have this weird smallest tick coming from underneath my truck, doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine bay, and it doesn't do it just driving down the road normally or just sitting there running, it does driving very slow, for example, parking lots or going off a stop light, but it doesn't do it all the time. it hit an miss with this ticking, any help would be very awesome. thanks

These things can be frustrating to pinpoint because of the way sound travels, but it seems like it might be an exhaust leak. I would start by running the truck and laying down on the ground next to it. See if you can pinpoint the location of the sound, and maybe see any damage to the exhaust system in that specific area. After the truck and exhaust cool down, crawl all the way under and take a closer look. Look for holes, bad welds, failing clamps, etc., which may be allowing exhaust to escape. It could turn out to be a really simple fix!

+1. Start the truck when cold, crawl under there and look and listen. Also look for any broken exhaust manifold bolts, which can cause a small exhaust leak, and pinholes around the seams on the muffler.
