Driver Information Center Buttons do not work.

Bought a used 2003 Silverado in Dec, the DIC does not work. Went to dealer to have the computer reflashed and was told it was the buttons that were bad. Bought and installed new switches today, still not working. I do get notices like change oil, low coolant level, but can't access any of the info or reset the messages. Have disconnected the battery terminals to see if new switches would get picked up, but no success.

Is there a reflash that needs to be done or do I need to look at replacing something else. Thanks in advance.

This the one that has the buttons made onto the face of the steering wheel spokes?

Yes, the steering wheel has a row of buttons for the radio in the middle and the info buttons near the bottom.

Some people went a long with trying to add the buttons back in those times. I'd be curious if the steering wheel was replaced and it ain't configured to work. Do you happen to have an airbag light on too or a stabilitrak light?

Nope no extra lights anywhere. My dealer told me there was no reflash for DIC, the switches either work or don't work. Can it be configured by flashing the computer?
