Help with a 07 Avalanche problems

Hello everyone, I bought a 2007 Chevy avalanche fully loaded ltz 5.3l for a very good deal. This isn't my first Avalanche as I had a 09 LTZ a few years ago I shouldn't have gotten rid of, so I was in need of something bigger to pull my small cargo trailer and such and this came up couldn't resis even with the little issues price was right. So let's get down to it.

 

It says service park assist. If I start the truck it doesn't say it and I can use the switch on the lower dash to turn it on and off. But as soon as I put it into reverse it says "service park assist" I have read this could be an unallinged sensor or damage sensor. I seen they are $45 for 4 maybe just replace them?

 

Saying service suspension system. This one comes and goes, lots say to check for air leaks, wires around the shocks and such. Truck seems to right nice,

 

My key remotes. To unlock the doors I have to use the key in the door and press unlock, but once I do that I can use the remote to lock and unlock the doors. So if I shut off the truck get out of it, I can lock it but when I come back out of the store the remote doesn't work again?! I ordered 2 new remotes for the price as these are pretty well used and beat up, even tried both remotes with new battery's.

 

Any info on this stuff would be great! Thanks!

Service park assist happens when my tailgate is down or when towing, do you have anything in your receiver that sensors are picking up? If not, probably bad sensor.

Service suspension could be a few things. Bad autoride shocks/compressor; replaced non-oem shocks without resistor; or a lift/level kit thats didnt correct height sensors. If it rides good, may just need resistors for $20 on fleabay. Suncore has options for a complete conversion to conventional shocks for around $250 with resistors, or you can buy oem replacements from amz or arnott for $$$.

The keyfob stuff could be just setting it up in your DIC options menu. Might need to go to dealership to program the new ones. Make sure you are setting up everything with fob 1 and using fob 1. The fobs will store seperate settings for each. Or it could be the rf receiver on truck...

Thanks for the reply! The tailgate isn't down nor do I have my receiver in, I might just replace all 4 for how cheap they are.

 

Yeah it rides great! No noises, no bouncing or hard hitting and seems to look good while sitting there. Even hauled a steel 22" car hauler trailer and it didn't sag barley, so I feel the shocks and compressor are good working order. I might go under there to see if there is a leak or wiring rubbing or something. Please tell me more about these resistors in the shocks? If I even did replace them I would like to stay air ride that's why I bought a avalanche over a Silverado. What is this option for $250 what does that replace?

 

I checked my menu says nothing about keys, so I'm going to wait for my new keys to come in and hopefully program them myself like before. I wouldn't see if being anything with the truck as I can walk far away after getting out and still lock and unlock it without problem, so if that was an antenna problem or something wouldn't be able to use the remote at all.

    • Here's a starter kit:    CC Jensen, a Danish oil testing Concern gives us the following guidelines:   ISO 14/12/10 Very Clean Oil ISO 16/14/11 Clean Oil ISO 17/15/12 Lightly Contaminated ISO 19/17/14 New Oil ISO 22/20/17 Very Contaminated and not suitable for any service.   In addition CC Jensen gives a table showing how engine life is increased by cleaning up the oil. For example cleaning the oil from 19/17/14 to 13/11/8 will extend motor life by a factor of 6X.   But even cleaning it two “Life Extension Classes” will double motor life. So perhaps giving those classes would be useful:   21/19/16 20/18/15 19/17/14 18/16/13 17/15/12 16/14/11 15/13/10 14/12/9 13/11/8   *************************************   https://testoil.com/program-management/setting-iso-cleanliness-targets/   Third paragraph from the bottom will give a starting point.    Your next question should be, okay 10um at what Beta ratio and the answer is in the graph Beta 75.   Then the next question is what is your chosen filters profile? (Purolator PL series below) The red dot is Beta 75. This was the information I obtained from MANN a few years ago. So the best filters, Purolator One, AMSOIL EA, FRAM Ultra, Royal Purple, Bosch Premium should get a doubling engine life over filters like Purolator L, any service filter from any quick lube, WIX, NAPA, STP, Mobil 1, Purolator BOSS.    And as noted by CC Jensen a 2-5 micron @ Beta 200 bypass system has the capability of a six fold improvement. AMSOIL has such a system as does Donaldson.       Now having said all that testing is the touchstone. Test the oil NEW and test it with your chosen filter. Then test over milage. Do the work, get the result. But understand this in NOT absolute BECAUSE this is one factor in isolation.   Example:    A valve spring supplier can state that with cam X and a valve train of Y grams the valves will not float to 7K rpm. is that true if the builder choose a system 20 grams over limit? Common sense must be used and limits understood. 
    • This doesn't look like a GM truck. Not needed on a HD truck
    • It varies a ton around me. Some places are still at $5.00 or higher and others are way down into the $4's.   Offroad diesel was $4.02 at the one station I passed today.

Carplay is also something that cannot be removed.  Hopefully it will remain.     I am excited about the 5.7L V8 (350 C.I.D.)  Old school Chevy power.  My only concern is whatever version of AFM/DFM cylinder deactivation.  Too bad that isn't an option a buyer can choose to have or not.   I will definitely be stopping by my local dealership when these trucks start showing up.
