2500HD CC 4L80-E 1st Gear Whine

Has anyone else noticed a whine coming from the 4L80-E tranny in 1st gear? I didn't have the issue until I cam back from a 3000 mile round trip to northern Canada. The dealer gave me a copy of a bulletin explaining to me that this whine was normal, but it is really annoying. As soon as the truck shifts into 2nd gear, the noise is no longer produced. I was just wondering if anyone else with the 6.0L and this tranny has heard of this.

Mine has done it since new. Hell its nothing compared to some of those Borg-Wagner trannies you hear in muscle cars or race cars. I just think it makes it sound "beefy". Indestrucable.

My tranny makes the same whine - I kinda like it.

Come listen to my Allison Trans. It WHINES in first, second and reverse. Ive never heard a trans whine so much. Dont really mind it though.. I think it kinda scares slow walking pedestrians in parking lots.

Yep, mine too! It's the straight cut gears. Nothing to worry about.

Cool. I thought it might have had something to do with the accident mine was in - or my reassembly after the accident, but I guess not. Thats good news.

How about the power steering pump whine though? Anybody noticed that?
