08 silverado burning oil

I just got a 2008 silverado with 97k truck ran fine for about a week. On the way home from work the engine started to tick as I accelerated then I got the "oil pressure low turn off engine light" now the truck smokes blueish white (oil) almost EVERY time I start it and is using 3 qts of oil a week. Does anybody know what causes this?

GM trying to save a buck!

 

This is friggin ridiculous. I've read so many posts across the net of this, and am experiencing the oil burning myself with my '07 ( no smoke ... YET). With all the money GM gets for these damn trucks, you'd think they'd build a decent engine! WTF ... NEVER AGAIN. They'll never get another dime from me as long as I'm breathing.

 

If you decide to throw an engine in the truck, DON'T buy it from GM. Have a reputable engine company build you one - it'll be 300x better quality than the crap GM is building today.

The worse part of it is that GM doesn't even manufacture the parts, it's some subsidiary somewhere but GM takes the fall. Unfortunately that's what happens when you outsource and use cheap materials. Now.....only if it was GM doing this.....
