Just wondering what it would take to lift my 01 Z71 about 2-4 inches. I have done this with an old IH Scout I used to own and was not that hard. However with my new truck being 20 + years newer technology, I'd think there would be more modifications to make, ie brake lines, transfercase lowering kit, etc. Anyway, could someone give me what all is needed, approximate price, is it worth it? Thanks in advance!

Your two options are a suspension lift or a body lift. Most suspension lifts are 4 inches or taller and probably start at around $1500 for the kit plus another $500 to $1000 for installation. The newer trucks with IFS are pretty complicated. THe other option is a body lift. Body lifts are usually 2 or 3 inch kits and will probably cost between $100 and $200. They are not that hard to install but are tedious and time consuming to install. I have seen labor quotes from $100 to $700 to install one, but odds are you could do it yourself. I'm sure some of the other members here will post also. THere are several members with lifted trucks here.

I got my lift kit (6in fabtech) with all the trimmings, for 1500, and 500 for the install. Add tires and wheels to that and you can add another 1000, plus another 100 or so to the install price for mounting and balancing. I would go with the suspension lift, you'll be happier about it, and it will make the truck look a lot better. But that's just my opinion, I have never been a really big fan of that gap you get better the frame and bed, with the body lift...

THe most important thing you can do is a lot of research on the different lift kits, and find a good installer if you don't do it your self.

I would defiantly go for the suspension lift. They do have them in the range of 2" and up. The bad part is the 2" lift will cost you about the same as a 4".
