Factory window tint

Does the tint outlining the front windshield actually do anything or is it just for looks? The reason I ask is mine appears to be scratched in the lower corner from the dealer repairing my OnStar antenna..it's not super deep but this is another piece of the truck found damaged or stained after that repair..trying so hard not to beat the war drum

You might not mind a scratch, paint chip, missing bolts and that is fine. Feel free to drive a piece of shit truck.
