Gas leak UPDATE

I have a gas leak in my '04 Silverado 4x4 and finally got to dropping the fuel tank. I discovered that not only the sending unit is rusted out, but the metal ring (or fuel tank lock ring I believe) that holds the fuel pump in the tank is rusted, too. I was told I will need a whole new fuel tank, which finding one for a regular cab stepside is easier said than done.

So will I in fact need to replace the whole gas tank? Or do I just replace the fuel tank lock ring?

Should be a plastic tank, therefore no need to replace the tank. Get the ring off (hammer and striking pry bar) and get a new sender and lock ring.
