2007 Yukon XL Seatbelts

Hey all, first post. I have a bit of a conundrum with a 2007 Yukon XL I just bought.

I need to replace five of the seatbelt buckles in the car, the previous owner had children that stuck gum and sticky food in the buckles. The buckles were disassembled for cleaning, and the trim pieces were gone.

The dealer assured me it was just cosmetic, and that the trim pieces could be replaced for a few dollars. I have to come find out this is false. The buckles don't engage without some fussing, not to mention it looks sketchy just to have the bare buckles on the seats.

I've looked into replacing the buckles with OEM parts, but they're around $100 a piece. It would be fine if it was just one, but it is five.

My question is, is there a generic bolt on solution to my problem that would end up being cheaper, or do I need to stick to OEM for all the safety systems and sensors to work.

Moral of the story here is, check every single little thing for proper functionality before buying a used car.

Any help is appreciated!

I have looked on ebay, and I've been able to find the OEM part, but they're pricey. I don't want to blindly buy a generic replacement without knowing if it would actually work though.

Haven't had much luck with salvage yards, it's too new of a vehicle I think

A local or online salvage yard will have them. Research which other GM products use the same part numbers to expand your search.
