Fuel Filter Replacement

This might be a stupid basic question, but I'm pretty new to GM vehicles. I have a '97 Bravada and want to change the fuel filter. I'm assuming this has an electronic fuel pump in the tank rather than a mechanical pump under the hood. Is there a fuel cut off switch somewhere that I need to actuate before I take off the old filter to relieve the fuel pressure? On my '88 T-Bird that I used to have, it had a connector in the trunk that I used to disconnect prior to removal of the filter. Also, I haven't looked yet and am sure I can find it, but where is the filter? Is it forward of the passenger rear tire like on most vehicles that I'm used to? Thanks for the help in advance.

I know the fuel filters on the S-10's are along the frame rail approx. under the drivers seat. Might want to start there for location.

Yes Tex is right for the location. The book will tell you to 'depressurize' the system prior to removal, but don't worry about it.

Just roll under there with a rag and remove it. A small amount of fuel will come out, but no big deal.

Well, I went to change my filter yesterday and found out the auto parts place gave me the wrong one. The one on the vehicle has a threaded fitting on one end and a non-threaded fitting on the other. The one I bought has a threaded fitting on both ends. Oh well, back to the store. Thanks for the tips though guys!

That's why whenever I can I like to pick my own parts. Look them up in the book and pull the part myself. Parts stores are good at hosing up the order sometimes.
