i read that sometimes the ecm, tcm, and transfer case updates for our trucks can improve driveability. my truck hasnt been to the dealer in a while, if i ask them to update my ecu, tcu, and any other computer module, can they do it in an hour? or will they not do that becuase they want a diagnostics first. Im guessing I need someone with a tech 2 to update these modules. I have a transmission shifting problem so thats why im hoping it will fix that or improve driveability.

Any garage with programming capability can do this for you. Does NOT have to be with a Tech 2!

Anybody with a J-box and a laptop, and the $55 fee to GM can do this.

My recommendation is, if it ain't broke DON'T FIX IT.

If its under warranty, take it in and have them address the trans issue. Leave the rest alone. Sometimes programming makes things worse.
