I'ts amazing how much of a hero she really is.

I am very happy to see Jessica home, but why doesnt anyone make a big deal about our other rescued POWs?. I know they were not any less of heros. I know when they were rescued they were mentioned on the news but no where near the coverage that Jessica got. I think we need to give them the same respect and coverage that she got. They risked their only life just the same. I think the media is at fault for this one.

But, I an thankful for Jessica and the other men and women who risked their life, including those who were captured, or lost there life.:thumbs::D

Mcourson - I agreee completely.

In fact I am not even sure i want to believe all of the Bush-administration hype that went behind her after she was brought back.

Lets see the same respect for all of our fallen heros.

Women should resent the special attention that has been given to Lynch just because she is female.

I keep hearing about all of these people offering Lynch scholarships, movie deals, free cars, and whatever else. While this is fine if you want to do it for everybody, don't just single out this soldier because she is a female.

The families of fallen soldiers could use all of these gifts also. At least Lynch gets a second chance. Think of the families that won't get that second chance. Most of these soldiers are the front-line fighters who new what they were getting into when they decided to make a career of defending thier country.

If i remember correctly, Lynch's crew made an error reading a map and got theirselves into trouble by driving into an unsecured area. While I do appreciate her commitment to the country, I feel there are others who have sacrificed way more, and are appreciated far less.

I don't think they appreciated any less, just us in the mountains hold onto things a little more since less happens in here

I appreciate the efforts of all those who serve. I'll agree regarding some of the media attention being biassed, and I'd like to mention some other examples like Chandra Levy, Elizabeth Smart, Jean Bennet Ramsey, and the list goes on. I mean if you look at the number of missing kids across the country...and these that get attention, it's unfortunate, but $ talks.

I just think its a shame that the media and gov tried to hype her rescue as a big mission and how there was resistance, gun fire, etc.

Here in Georgia, a POW named Ron Young Jr. got alot of attention. He was on the news almost daily. His company was out of Fort Bliss, Texas but his lived in Lithia Springs.

I also agree with everyone's comments on this situation. But I will say I don't believe it was because she was female. If you all remember back during the begining of the war, there was that convoye that took a wrong turn and got ambushed. One or two got killed, and several others were taken prisoner. One of them was a black female. They were later released/recovered. They then had her family on the Today Show to talk to her via satalite phone, and I think that was it. Nothing on the scale this Jessica individual is recieveing.

I appreciate the sacrifice she made by serving her country. But something isn't right with how this situation is being handled. Something stinks!

Not to downplay the mere fact that Pfc Lynch signed on the dotted line to protect our freedoms, but what did she do that was so heroic? Get lost, get in a vehicular collision, get injured in the collision, get captured, get rescued? None of that is heroic. She's a survivor, yes, but nothing on the scale of true heroism. There are lots of war stories of true heroes. Audie Murphy tops of that list. The GI who attacked a machine gun nest with only his trenching tool, that's heroic. Unfortunately, Pfc Lynch has just become a dog-and-pony show for the administration. Not that she asked for it, but they needed a diversion from the reality. She's a cute, white, female from rural WV. How much more apple pie can you get?
