I think I have a bad ecu but want some opinions

So, 2005 Silverado, 5.3, parked it after work, next morning it started up then died immediately. No security light flashing. I can hear the fuel pump kicking on. Checked all my fuses and they seem fine. i noticed my fuel range meter, oil life meter, fuel used meter and mpg meter all read ------- instead of the usual numbers, and my scan tool will power up but can;t link. I checked the wiring and grounds for the ecu, seem fine. Has anyone else had this issue?  I'm about to grab an ecu from the junkyard, just figured I'd check here.

You can't just throw an ECU in the truck. It has to be programmed first.

Lets do some checking before we break out the parts cannon and start launching parts at the car it doesn't need.

Remove Connector 1 (BLUE) from the ECM. Goto Terminal #58 (dark green) and using a multimeter check the resistance from Terminal 2 (purple) of the DLC (Data link connector where you plug your scan tool in) And let me know what the resistance value is. I will help you walk through this if you want.

Here is a schematic to help.

The last thing I want to do is break out the parts cannon. I'll get back to you when I have a chance to check it out. I'm at work right now. Thank you both
