Oil Leak Concern. Opinions?

Hi All:

I hope this is posted to the right forum. If not, please let me know.

New to the site, though I am a long-time Chevy truck owner.

Concerning my new Silverado, I noticed a slight 'glistening' of oil near or on the oil pan gasket. It seems like every truck I have owned has had this...  no drips on the concrete; no real drops of oil.

I can just rub my finger along the gasket and pick up a trace amount of oil.

Is this worth a gasket replacement? I'm beginning to wonder if this is a normal condition. I know this isn't a new or ground-breaking question.

Any advice and opinions are appreciated.

not worth replacement until or unless it drops oil.  Just keep an eye on it.

This is a GM truck trait going all the way back to their founding. My '07 started to weep around the valve covers and heads by 10k miles.

I know I'm really not supposed to be answering questions, here; however, since it's nearly Christmas........

If it's an '18, the dealer should be able to prove were the leak is coming from.  If they can't, perhaps GM can guide you to another dealer.

Please, everyone, be gentle.

And, have a Merry, Merry New Year!

Yes, all opinions are welcome.

I'm not naive'. I am well-aware the knee-jerk reaction is...

"Hey, it's a new truck. It's got a slight weeping of oil. Take it to the dealer."

IMHO, sometimes that is the answer; sometimes not so much, if you know what I mean.

In light of that, I was seeking opinions on how much of a concern this would be to any and all of you.

All of your feedback is welcome, and I appreciate it.
