Starting

Hey men.  The new trucks seem to use a relay such that when you turn the truck to the start position, it cranks over.  You can then release the switch and the truck continues to crank until it starts.  So, if the truck decides it is not going to start, how long will it continue to crank?

Yeah the key switch is now just an input to the computer which asks it to start the truck. Kinda convenient, but also a little odd feeling for us old guys. 

 

Thr max crank timr is buried buried in the manual somewhere, but for some reason I’m thinking it’s like 15 seconds.

30 seconds is the crank timer.  They've been doing this since the 2007 trucks.  You only need to flick the key forward to start for only a second or so, no need to hold it.  Unless you have a diesel Colorado LOL.  I got so used to the "bump start" as GM referred it as at one point but I can't do that anymore.
