2014 sierra ac problem

Just discovered today during oil change on my 2014 GMC Sierra 5.3 that the belt that runs the compressor is shredded and broke and it appears that the compressor is seized also lots of what looks like oil that leaks out of compressor. Talked with the dealer I bought the truck from new and he said he was not aware of any ac problems. My truck has 44k miles and I use the ac seldom. I have googled 2014 sierra and Silverado ac problems and am very dismayed by the number of ac complaints that are showing up and the apparent lack of GM taking responsibility for faulty design issues. I bought his truck as my retirement present to myself. I like my truck but am not at all pleased with this circumstance. I will talk more with the dealer and lodge a formal complaint. Hopefully GM will be the company it should be and take care of this problem for all of us. Maybe a Ford F 150 is in my future. I had a 1978 Ford pu for 37 years and the new GM was the replacement. Did I make a mistake?
