Key sticking in ignition

MackC

Question

My key started sticking in the ignition a few months ago. I took it to my dealer on 2 occasions but they said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I took it this week to another dealer. They said the shifter was bad. Is the shifter covered in my powertrain warranty?  I have a 2016 Colorado. V6 Automatic. 45000 miles.

Don't see how it could be. What looks odd though is that you have way above average miles per year on it. I would go back to the dealer you bought it from to see if they would see if GM can be talked into covering an obvious defect. Your truck is 2 years old.  Your mileage has to be put on with long trips.  Long trips means less frequent uses of the key/ignition.

You have nothing to lose by trying for warranty.
