Help with leveling kit if replacing UCA’s

Recommended Posts

Alright folks, got some Readylift UCA’s on the way, and also purchased the RC 2.5” leveling kit for stamped steel UCA’s.

Im looking at the instructions and for thr stamped uca kit the top spacer goes under the coil.

looking at the instructions for cast steel the top spacer goes on top of the strut.

Is one better than the other as far as ride quality/angles/strut life and such?

I am assuming since I am replacing the stock stamped steel control arms I can run the standard kit if it makes any difference.

Hopefully my post isn’t confusing

Bump

Would rather not deal with compressing the spring if I can just run the top of the strut spacer

You shouldn't have to compressthe spring at all. Just pull the bottom of the strut off or the top

With the kit for for stamped steel arms the top spacer goes underneath the coil

since I am upgrading the uca’s im assuming I can just run the standard above the strut spacer kit but im not sure, this is my first truck and first time doing any leveling

the complete Readylift kit has a top of the strut spacer, if you get just the leveling kit with no UCA’s it recommends upgrading from stamped steel arms to factory cast aluminum or their tubular arms.

I chatted with Rough Country and told them I upgraded the UCA’s so could I run the standard kit, they asked if I changed out the knuckle, and if I did not then I should still run the under the coil top spacer, but that sounds kind of odd to me? If I am able to swap them from stamped to cast then the knuckle should be no different is what im thinking?

You could avoid all of this and buy a pre loaded shock from fox or rancho. bilstein you have to get the coils on yourself or ask a shop. I personally couldn’t find a shop willing to do it. (But bilstein is the best price for quality)

I have rancho quick lift and I wouldn’t buy them again not saying they are bad but the customer service is sh&t. I wish I paid the extra $$$ for fox.

The rancho shocks are the same size as the oem shock they are just much stiffer making it not do a noise dive, same as the fox 2.0

I had a ready lift level in the past with the 0.5 at the bottom and the disk at the top I found when I hit speed bumps it was pretty brutal how little the shocks gave, making the ride very uncomfortable.

If I could afford the fox I would def go that route, but Its out of my price range, and I already have both the RC kit and Readylift UCA’s on hand. I think im going to order up the standard top spacers and see if it works out. Everything im reading says the ball joint on the stamped and aluminum uca’s are the same, the knuckle is smaller on the stamped but still fits the same ball joint, and every other leveling kit other than RC has a top of the strut spacer for the stamped arms. :dunno:

Ya, this is true they ask for way too much for shocks. I thought I could sell my old ones but no luck.
