DIY cup holder iPhone dock

Photos are self explainable. Not a perfect solution but it works pretty well with charging & CarPlay. Basically you just need buy a "Recharge iPhone Cup Holder Dock for iPhone", disassemble it, remove the plug and the IC board. Enlarge the plug hole to seat a lightning USB wire in. Use a glue gun to secure the plug on the back.

you don't need the rubber shell coming with the device. You just wrap the inner plastic case with a clear double side 3M tape so it will stay securely in the cup holder. Wire goes underneath of the cup holder liner
