Hello everyone!  Thanks for having me!  I am a new Silverado and truck owner!  It's the first time I have purchased a brand new vehicle too - so I'm pretty excited!  I do have one question I need opinions or suggestions on.  I have a 2018 Silverado - Custom Crew.  The sticker on my window (which also has my VIN number on it) indicates my infotainment system has a 7" screen MyLink system with USB port and voice activated radio and phone technology.  This is nowhere to be found - I can manually dial my phone on the touchscreen but I cannot voice dial or change my radio station with my voice.  The dealer tells me the voice activation has to go through my phone - not my head unit - BUT that doesn't make sense as the 8" screen option, which actually does have the voice activated features,  is described absolutely the same, except for the size of the screen.  I feel like I've been mislead.  Can someone shed some light on this.   Thanks for any help!   **Not sure if I posted in the correct area - Sorry I'm new to this**

did you try reading your manual? or have the salesman that sold you your truck give you a demonstration on how to use all the features in your truck.

The owners manual is a good place to start.  I'm one of the few that actually reads through it when I get a vehicle, new or used.   As for voice activation on dialing, you first have to make sure your phone is hooked up via blue tooth. Then press the button on the steering wheel and follow the prompts.

My steering wheel doesn't have any phone controls.  I guess I haven't explained my issue clearly.  I have the 7" screen but does not have any built in voice activated features - as the window sticker clearly states.  I feel it's a bait and switch type of thing, as I have looked at the window sticker with the 8" screen option, and all the rest of the description is the same...

So you don't have these buttons?

 

Wonder how you use voice activated features without them?

Maybe this explains it. Not same year or vehicle but does show how you can use "voice activated"  Which is somewhat deceiving as even on my high country its activated by a button and then you talk.

Exactly.  I don’t have those buttons at all.  I think it’s a bit deceiving too.  I will figure out how to do it through my phone but I really should have the option for voice activated phone and radio, as the sticker states. 

On the plus side, I get my bed liner sprayed on and my MX4 tonneau cover on Thursday!
