managed to cause a few medium-depth scratches to my 2018 Sierra getting my bike out of the bed. Anybody have any tips or repair kits that they like for fixing scratches? Or would taking it to a dealer or Body Shop be the best way?

Look at Dr. chip repair I believe it is called. You spread the paint in the scratch or chip and then wipe off the access with their special product. There is a video when you go to their website.

If you want it to look nice the body shop is always the answer. What is meant by "medium" scratches? Clear coat only, down into the paint, all the way to the zinc coated body metal? I dropped my Kona when I used to ride in my 2010 Sierra and the brake lever scratched the bed all the way to the metal, but I had the box painted under warranty so it was ok. If it is just through the clear coat you can easily polish them out yourself. If paint work is required, I would have a shop do it if you sell or trade often. Enjoy the battle scar if you keep your trucks until they die or touch it up yourself. If you're a DIY guy, check out some YouTube videos from AMMONYC on paint correction methods, very informative and he uses the methods on $1,000,000 cars so it should be fine for a pickup.

I am using brush, but I think for small scratches using a pen type is better. Anyhow, regardless how well touch up paint applies, it is still unfortunately unfortunate. It is not the treatment but rather prevention. If possible: Do most repairs by yourself.

Always wear gloves.

Never wear jewelry such as ring, bracelet, watch and never wear clothing with zipper and button especially no belt buckle when repairing car or washing car.

Never park near shopping carts and their returning slot. Never park in a narrow parking lot. It is okay to walk 50 ft more.

Never park on low ground. If possible, park on high ground because wind can push shopping carts to low ground. Never fight over good parking spot. We have enough road rage, so parking lot rage also unnecessary. A car key scratch is not necessary.

+1 for Dr. Colorchip.

I really didn't expect much from it but it turns out it does a good job.  Of course it's not as perfect as a professional body shop repair but it costs a lot less and is easy for me to keep up with dings each time I was the truck.
