2015 suburban coolant disappears

Recommended Posts

Chris, no visible leaking.
It was evaporating out at the cracks in the radiator. Read this:

Thanks for this. I guess I should take it into the stealership then??

Do you have any warranty left?
Mine was covered. It is not covered under powetrain.
If it is the problem i have described, its about a $ 1300 repair.
Have you checked out the Suburban Tahoe forum?

Bumper to bumper warranty is out. I guess I’m in the wrong forum I have a 1500 Silverado

Sorry Chris, my bad.

I was thinking you had a tahoe.

There was someone with a 2015 tahoe losing coolant here somewhere.

You are in the right place sir.

So do you get a coolant smell in the front grille area?

It will be intermitent.

Subject: Coolant Smell and/or Slight Leak at Radiator
Models: 2015 Cadillac Escalade
2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado
2015 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe
2014-2015 GMC Sierra, Sierra Denali
2015 GMC Yukon , Yukon Denali

Equipped with 4.3L, 5.3L or 6.2L Engine (RPOs LV1, LV3, L83 or L86)

Start by inspecting the radiator for signs of leaks. Normally, signs of leaks can be found where the tubes attach to the headers.

This condition may be the result of excessive thermocycles within the cooling system caused by excessive cycling of the thermostat.

hese excessive thermocycles within the coolant system may cause the tubes to fatigue, crack and leak at the radiator headers.

To correct this condition, a new thermostat has been designed that eliminates the thermostats excessive cycling.

If this condition is found, in addition to replacing the radiator, the engine coolant thermostat housing (w/thermostat) must also be replaced. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement, which is located in the Engine Heating and Cooling section.

I pressure tested today at 15psi for around 10 minutes, and it held. Could not find any leaks. Filled the reservoir back up to cold fill line. Will keep an eye out over the next couple weeks
