Super tall grass

Well I just got done mowing the yard, well take that back yesterday I just got done mowing the yard. What normally took me two hours on my old Cub Cadet, Which by the way went for $610 bucks on EBay, now takes me about an hour and twenty minutes on the new mower.

Well with all this rain we have been getting and my schedule being so crazy, I finally was able to get to the yard yesterday. I started it as soon as I got home from work at 4:30 and didn't get done till 9. In between that was a 30 minute dinner break.

The stuff was so high and thick and still wet, even though it was sunny all day, that I had to double cut it. When it was all said and done I had 32 piles of grass to pick up. Raking is a big pain in my book but I had to because if I didn't I would have had a brown yard from all the dead grass that I would have left behind.

I wish my digital camera would have came yesterd, I'm hoping it will be here today, ordered it Monday. I went around the yard in the truck and filled it up with grass. I mean when it was all said and done the pile in the back of my Silverado was taller than the cab and if you tried to put more grass in it all that would have happened was it would have ran down the and over the sides of the bed. That would have been a picture for sure. I was also wondering what the weight of it was. Didn't seem to load down the truck any but as wet as it was and packed in there it would have been interesting.

Oh and since it was basically dark and wet with dew, and I have a slight hill in the back, my G80 got a work out a few times, you can tell when it locks that is for sure. :jester:

To bad I don't live near a farm. I know a few cows would have loved to have munched on all that grass. Buffett style for them.

Oh one more thing. It would have taken me about two hours longer if I still had the Cub. That ExMark I got is a dream, cut through it well and not once did it bogg down. Chaulk one up for todays technology and quality in commercial lawn care.

I cut 3/4 acre with a 6.5 hp push mower. With the rain we have had, I have to cut it more often than once a week! It takes me about 2 1/2 hours total.

I just finished a 2 day cutting jb on my lawn.

Itwas so thick and wet, it clogged up the side-chute on my mower. A copperhead snake decided to strike at me while Iwas mowing, so I stopped for a while.

I had to chop down a ton of these 3' high plants with a string trimmer the other day. A brush cutting head would have helped. I broke the string 3 times on those plants.

I have a .410 full choke snake removal tool that works wonders. Ya need to carry a sand can to fill the divot where the snake was though. :P

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
