Adding an amp to a Bose (no-sub) system, quick question

For those that have done this, what wires did you tap into on the amp? Following the many diagrams, they all point to tapping into the smaller wires going into the amp (I assume these are coming from the head unit???). I also notice people taping into the wires at the rear speakers which are larger. Which is correct? One would appear to be preamp signal, the larger ones post amp (correct?). I need to attach my amp via high level then out to the sub. Need a little help here, thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

I just had an amp and sub put in my 2018 with Bose. i believe they used the rear speaker wires . this is not proving to be very effective.

Who put it in?

Usually there is nothing wrong with that.

But....I would be surprised if the bose system didn’t have a high level crossover for the speakers. Generally speaking systems with subs will send low frequencies to the sub and mid/high level frequencies to the full range speakers. Which would make your speakers a terrible place to tap into a source for a sub.

They could potentially be some really stupid installers.

my Bose system is the full range speakers with out the center console sub.  I had the center console sub in my 2008 and the added amp and sub was a great addition. its not working out well now.
