Lift or leave leveled?

Your truck looks great! My truck surprisingly drove like a Cadillac when I first purchased. Now rougher once I did the 2.25” billet aluminum level up front and 1” added rear then added Bilstein 5100’s front and rear with E rated 285/60/20’s which come out to 34”. You’re telling me that doing the 6” lift made it smoother than your lift comparable to stock?

Thanks, yeah when the truck was stock it rode really good once it was levelled it stiffened up the ride up in the front and when I added the leaf in the rear it stiffened the rear, I did like the way it rode but some might have found it just slightly stiff, that was with 275/65R20(34”) Goodyear Duratracs. The lift made my truck ride better than it did when it was factory height, what I noticed which helped tie all of the components together was the upper uniball control arms. It gained down travel which helped a lot when hitting pot holes and speed bumps

I've been researching many of the same things you are.  My conclusions so far are that a level is a cheap band-aid approach to fit bigger tires.  A real lift is the only proper way to do it, particularly if you intend to use the truck off road.  If you are interested in looks and tire size only, a level can do that.  But the real costs are hidden in premature wear of ball joints, CV joints and even the steering rack.

You’re definitely right with this, had the leveling kit on my truck for 3 and a half years and when the lift kit was being installed the ball joints were shot, not a huge deal as I was installing new uniball upper control arms but the lowers had to be replaced as well

Would you mind giving me the run down on your whole lift setup, parts make, etc?

So overall it is a FabTech Gen 2 6” Lift
Front:
4” Dirt Logic Coilovers
Fab Tech Uniball UCA

Rear:
2.25” Dirt Logic Shocks
BDS Add- A Leaf

The difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 lifts is that the Gen 1 like most Independent front suspension lifts will increase the track width in the front by around an inch and three quarters, the Gen 2 will not increase track width in the front whatsoever
