Article talks specifically about particulate filters. It looks like the EPA can’t stop people from deleting and tuning their diesels, so they’re going after the folks who sell the tuners.

It is my understanding that manufactures are now locking down their ECMs tight and if you do tamper with them, they are designed to send a message back to GM stating that the ECM has been tampered with.  I guess in GM's case they use Onstar for the communication process back to GM.

Apparently the L5P is still “essentially” un-tunable. The ECM is so highly encrypted that you basically have to swap out your ECM with an unlocked one to tune it. Don’t think they’ve got all that worked out yet.

Hp likely has a loop hole as they are not deleting the trucks with their ecm's... it's the individual tuners or owners that are.  Its not a tuner... it's just software and what you manipulate with it is up to you.  There are already a couple L5Ps up here deleted.... and Alberta is not under the jurisdiction of the EPA so really for the guys here who cares.
