The straight body line make all the difference in the 1st pic - MUCH better than the curve down through the front quarter panel/driver's door. Moving the side mirror off the door panel looks better too. Nicely done.

Ford has something similar to the aero curtain, but you can’t see it. It’s a rectangular slot in the facia . Why did we get stuck with the ugly aero curtains? Prehaps to impress, but I think it backfired, just like the outdated , cheap interior.

Because for some reason the GM designers have some stupid “spartan helmet” fetish going on and are using it as inspiration for all of their line. For some reason, that’s their definition of “bold”. Time will tell I guess. I think they can do better.
